The Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act of 2010 is a law that has significantly changed the healthcare system of the United States. First of all, it made insurance available to over 45 million people or up to 90% of the legal population. The act is also called Obamacare and required all citizens to face income tax surcharges or have health insurance before March 2014. The purpose was to allow people to get coverage and to ensure everyone’s safety and protection. People were provided with an option to buy health insurance or get subsidies, according to their requirements. It’s safe to say that healthcare reforms under the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act of 2010 will be the best health-related legislation since the establishment of Medicaid and Medicare (Ogundipe, et al., 2015). We feel that they will surely meet their intended purpose, but for this, sufficient time is required because America is a vast country and various people need health insurance policies. We can say that this legislation emerged as an ambitious and marvelous undertaking for every level of the U.S. government. There is a strong need to accommodate 20 million additional patients suffering from mental diseases. They will be eligible for health insurance under the Medicare guidelines. How much Obamacare will cost a person depends on his age, family size, location, monthly or yearly income and type of plan he has selected.
