Medical-Surgical Nursing encompasses a broad spectrum of responsibilities and standards. These nurses practice in hospital units and oversee sick adults with a broad spectrum of medical illnesses or are recovering from surgery 24/7 (Academy of Medical-Surgical Nurses, 2019).
The Academy of Medical-Surgical Nurses (AMSN) is the only specialty organization in the field of medical-surgical nursing. Its importance lies in the assistance that the medical-surgical nurses receive in helping them to achieve excellence in their practice by pursuing its mission to support these nurses in exploring their field through professional development, certification, scholarship, and advocacy. Moreover, the pieces of training and scholarships that AMSN provide aim to contribute to the increasing quality of health care in the country. Besides, AMSN is an established leading organization in the field of medical-surgical nursing.
