Social, Political, and Economic Factors on Urgent Care Units and Primary Care Practices
In the past few decades, the proliferation of urgent care facilities and primary care practices has increased tremendously. The growth has been caused my many factors ranging from social, economic and political. Socially, the proliferation has been due to growth in chronic disease conditions, a new generation that demands convenience as well as high aging population. Over the ages, chronic diseases such as cancer, HIV/ AIDS, diabetes and many others have increased among the population. These diseases need primary care practices. Also, primary care provides counselling and disease prevention services. Today, there are many problems that cause stress and increased the need for counselling among the people which has prompted growth in primary care. Primary and urgent care provides diagnosis and treatment at the same day and during the evening or weekends which increases convenience that is demanded by the new generation. Also, the aging population demands both primary and urgent care through homecare which has made it grow.
Economically, urgent care services are highly affordable which has made many people to prefer over the expensive healthcare alternatives. Urgent care provides urgent medical attention and the patient receives out-patient care which is less expensive and affordable to many (Bradley & Taylor, 2015). Also, the growth has been spurred by the private equities and investors who have seen the demand rising over time and started their own clinics to tab from the demand.
Politically, urgent and primary care has proliferated as a result of the Affordable Care Act which has seen many people secure medical insurance and hence demands primary care doctor. The demand for primary care doctor meant demand for primary care near the people which saw the growth many (Bradley & Taylor, 2015). Also, politicians have been promising to improve healthcare to the people and this has translated to moving the services to the people through more care facilities.
Clinic’s Mission Statement
The mission is “Committed to improving the health of our community through provision of comprehensive quality urgent and primary care service to all without discriminating on their status or ability to pay” The mission statement will go a long way in ensuring that we provide quality services to our customers.
Firstly, the mission statement recognizes the value of each and every individual which has guided us to provide quality services to all our customers without discrimination. We leave to this by providing exemplary unique spiritual, physical and emotional care to each of our patient and their family members.
Secondly, our mission statement will facilitate quality service provision in that it will provide a sense of balance between the continued commitment to the care of the poor and those who are most in need of provision of highly specialized services to the broader community whom we serve.
