Practicum discussion: Week 6
The feedback obtained as a result of the presentation was shared to a public health nurse in the community. As a healthcare leader and an advocate in promoting positive social change as a scholar-practitioner to improve the health of vulnerable persons within the area, my role entails acting in line with fair treatment of people notwithstanding their age, immigration status or country of origin, gender, sexual orientation, socioeconomic status, ethnicity or disability. My role will also entail focusing on social justice for the underserved vulnerable or at-risk populations and advocate for them and assert that health care, social justice, prevention and cure must be a right for everybody. In this role, I would always be dedicated to the health of vulnerable persons and the eradication of inequities in health.
Furthermore, I will assume the role of advocating for the principles of social justice in healthcare and supporting governmental and/or organizational policies which exhibit social justice. Equally important, my role would involve offering policy leadership by serving in teams or through directing efforts spelling out the role of local and state health departments and health boards in getting rid of inequities in health. ...
