The solid waste disposal process involves the collection, treatment and proper dumping of solid constituents. Disposal is undertaken after the solid materials have served their intended purpose or they no longer in use (Seltenrich, 2013). Improper disposal can lead to catastrophic effects, including pollution of the environment and outbreaks of illness. Various methods can be applied in the disposal of the solid waste materials. The methods include incineration, landfills, recycling. The essay compares and contrasts the recycling and incineration methods and outlines the best method of solid waste management.
The recycling of solid waste entails separating the various components, recovering and reusing the separated components that have economic values (Epstein, 2015). On the other hand, incineration involves the effective burning of large volumes of solid waste under controlled conditions.
