Change is not an easy thing to effect. Human beings are naturally resistant to change, and this often makes it hard for leaders to implement their ideas within the workplace. However, change at times is non-negotiable and must be applied with or without consensus. Being a leader demands that one is both visionary, charismatic as well as assertive if need be. One needs to have the necessary skills and attributes to be a successful leader.
When implementing change, leaders are bound to encounter some objections or obstacles from stakeholders. Firstly, one might lack support from other leaders who may foresee some negative impacts to their jobs and positions. In the corporate world, the phrase “every man for himselfâ€Β is vastly used. Whenever one feels that their position or job is at risk, the logical response is that they will fight to keep them, and the fight might involve declining a fellow leader’s ideas.
Another obstacle could be resistance from the employees. In an organization, any change no matter how small or simple directly impacts employees. Like their fellow resistant leaders, when the proposed changes threaten their jobs, most of them will unquestionably resist. E...
