i observed in the facility of the fountain Washington house in rehab center for 16 hours.my observed time was with elderly people. most of the clients (patient)are have Alzheimer, physical problems b/c of age. they need ota, . we were helping them to remember how things work, daily activities such as how to use phone how to remember numbers, brain work that help to brain function... during the observation , i learn how to be patient with those kinds of people.

I have always had this burning desire to put my theoretical knowledge into real, practical applications, and my experience at the Fountain Washington House in Washington was an achievement of that. My time and experience there made me learn on various aspects of not only the abstract nursing knowledge, but also a few aspects that required personal reasoning, or common sense. It was an observation exercise which lasted around sixteen hours. This session really impacted on my perception of occupational therapy.
My observation time was mainly with the elderly. These individuals mostly suffered from age-related complications, such as Alzheimer’s syndrome as well as physical issues. As a result, they were in great need of therauptic assistance in virtually all the aspects of their routine. Most of these problems were directly connected to how their brains worked. It is usually evident that the brain tends to work slower as one age. This is a particularly important point that I noted as I continued serving my time with these patients.
Much of the work I did revolved around assisting them to jog their memory and mental processes, so that they could grasp how to do some simple ,routine activities like using their mobile phones and performing simple arithmetic. It might sound a little tough but for me, I came t...
