Why I chose to watch this particular theorist's video
What drove me to choose Virginia Henderson's video was that I admire her ideologies, particularly giving the patient much independence to avoid delay after hospitalization. Virginia Henderson's Need Theory fascinates me; the way she explains that nurses play a vital role in healthcare from taking care of patients to their recovery. In this video, Virginia mentions that nurses hold a significant place in healthcare and, if possible, should be licensed to diagnose and treat patients. She argues that nurses' ability to assist patients in taking the doctor's prescription should give them the confidence to diagnose diseases without waiting for doctors. I found it intriguing to listen to her ideas on why nurses diagnosing was crucial in healthcare. Henderson's video made me realize that nurses play function uniquely as an assistant on patients from recovery or cases of a peaceful death.
The part of my philosophy where I agree or disagree with this theorist
I concur with Henderson's idea that nurses should care for patients until the patients are in a position to take care of themselves. When she states that nurses do to others that which they would do for themselves, it shows that nurses would attend to other people's needs the same way they attended to theirs. I am convinced that this attitude would lead nurses to be advocates for patients the same way she talks about it in the video. I believe that nurses should show willingness and devotedness in taking care of patients both at night and in the day. Though Henderson mentioned certain concepts of fundamental human needs, she failed to link physiology and other human characteristics. I find her 14 components not resonating well with each other.
