Part 1
My first and unforgettable clinical experience was in an intensive care unit where I was doing a 6-month, unpaid internship that aimed to polish my skills and prepare me for a successful career. On my first day, I was to reach the hospital at 8:00 a.m. sharp. I used to sleep late at night, and it was too tough for me to reach by that time. Still, I managed to wake up early, did yoga, took a bath, finished my breakfast and rushed to the hospital. Luckily, I reached there by 7:40 a.m., twenty minutes before the exact time. It was indeed a happy moment for me, and I learned the value of time. If I had reached the hospital late, then a lot of patients who depended on me for their medications would have suffered.
Part 2
At that time, I was quite confused because of two things: firstly, I was to leave a good impression on the hospital manager by reaching on-time, secondly, I had to be quick at checking the blood pressure, fever, and heart rate of patients before medications could be prescribed or given to them. As a nurse, it is my core responsibility to respect the emotions of patients and help them get recovered from the diseases, or at least complete the tasks assigned.
