Nursing Philosophy: How You Practice As An Advanced Practice Nurse?

Nursing philosophy is very important in the life of a practicing nurse, because it helps create a guide with which could guide a practicing nurse in making decisions, especially those which concerns the lives of other people CITATION Hamnd \l 1033 (Hamilton, n.d.). In my own journey of being an advanced practice nurse, I’ve created my own philosophy through my experiences and what I believe are the most important things when it comes to healthcare. Fundamentally, my nursing philosophy goes as follows:
Maintain and develop a strong work ethic, one which is dedicated towards the application of evidence-based knowledge as well as proper continuity of care, in order to deliver the best and most cost-effective care for any patient, anywhere and everywhere he/she may be.
Based on this philosophy which I’ve always carried with me, I’m able to make decisions, even in cases where it is hard to arrive in a single one. By always maintaining a strong work ethic, I always practice my due diligence and my utmost best, not only in assessing, evaluating, and taking care of the patient, but also in gathering more knowledge about how to further improve my practice, as well as those of others. This endeavor is due to my belief in the strength of using evidence-based practices in any healthcare settings. Despite the fact, that I don’t use EBP solely, but a combination of it and standard established procedures, I do not lose sight of what my own personal observations and how could they further improve the practice.
