Executive Summary
This business plan will cover the plans of Elizabeth Jones to start up her own independent practice in the state of New Jersey as a means of opening her own primary care clinic there. This will obviously require a lot of work, and in this plan, Jones wants to lay out her plans as to the initial set-up of her clinic, and the expenses associated with that (including the utilities and overheads which she deems necessary), as well as the expenses associated with taking on employees and providing for insurance and continuing education for all involved. This plan will also cover the services which Jones wishes to provide from her clinic.
Mission Statement
The purpose of this venture is to establish under partnership (Buppert, 2015, 353) a primary care clinic in New Jersey, in order to bring a variety of primary care services to the people who live near where the clinic is set up.
Hopefully, the clinic will be able to offer a variety of primary care services from the beginning of life as a business, with the option for more services becoming available through a system of employee training.
Background
The holder of this business plan, Elizabeth Jones, is certified as a Family Nurse Practitioner – Board Certified (henceforth to referred to by the acronym FNP-BC). She has held a position as a Nurse Practitioner for the past eight years, and, by setting up her own clinic, wants to move up the ladder.
Objectives
By opening a primary care clinic in New Jersey, Jones hopes to accomplish two goals – one, she hopes to provide ongoing primary care to the residents of the area (“State Practice Environment”, 2016); two, she sees this as the next step in her own continuing professional development.
Capital Requirements
For beginning, Elizabeth Jones has calculated that she will need to have at least two other Nurse Practitioners with her, as well as an administrative assistant to handle the paperwork. As the clinic grows, this will naturally increase, but for now, the human element is three other people and Jones herself.
In terms of equipment, as primary care clinics normally function as the beginning of a patient’s journey through the health care system (“Primary Care”, 2017), the building will not require much in the way of specialist equipment (Kaur & Hall, 2001, 21).
Management Team
The management team will consist of Elizabeth Jones herself and one other Nurse Practitioner of similar experience levels, though perhaps from a different field than FNP to provide for some balance in the managerial outlook (“Primary Care”, 2017).
Product Strategy
The clinic will not provide products as such, but will provide a number of services. As has been said, primary care is the entry into the health care system (“Primary Care”, 2017). This does not mean that it is only a holding area until they can receive treatment, however. The basic list of services which Jones is looking to offer initially include health maintenance, disease prevention, and diagnosis\treatment of acute and chronic illnesses ...
