Peer Pressure
Peer pressure is among the major contemporary issues that teenagers face. It plays a significant role in emotional and social growth during adolescence (Sumter et al., 2009). It is a direct influence on an individual by friends or those around them. They are motivated to follow what others do or how they behave by changing values, attitudes, and behavior. A teenager can be influenced by peer pressure in varying degrees and can result in either positive or negative impacts. Peer pressure may also occur when a teenager fears being harassed for not being compliant (Sumter et al., 2009). External stressors are life changes, situations, and events that happen to an individual. Those events and situations are associated with peer pressure since it changes the behavior of an individual. For example, external pressure to take alcohol may compel a teenager to begin taking alcohol. 
Most adolescents are faced with stern health problems, serious health habits, and risky behavior despite accessing medical care (Simons-Morton et al., 2001). They do not seek advice from professionals to minimize the effects of peer pressure. This will, therefore necessitate assessment strategies to screen peer pressure. The existing strategies to screen peer pressure may not be appropriate to efficiently screen many adolescents (Simons-Morton et al., 2001). The following are the assessment strategies necessary to screen peer pressure.
1 Counseling
Adolescents affected by peer pressure pose a challenge when influencing behavior changes because they are in a stage of dramatic, emotional, and physical transformation (Chan et al., et al. 2013). Therefore, taking time to assess the emotional and cognitive abilities of the patient through counseling is important.  
2 TCU treatment process model and approach
It integrates evidence for pre-treatment roles and engagement treatment to improve positive peer pressure changes and provide a greater platform for screening and assessing teenagers. Motivated teenagers are likely to be motivated to attend sessions with nurses and counselors to help them handle the issue.
3 Use of the physician-patient relationship
This relationship helps in personalizing risk-reduction information among teenagers. Therefore, physicians should collaborate with other stakeholders to address peer pressure among adolescent patients (Chan et al. 2013). They should invite them to access their offices and provided them with personal needs.
