1. How will you contribute to the mission of the Nurse Corps Scholarship Program in providing care to underserved communities?
The purpose and hence the mission of the Nurse Corps Program is to facilitate budding nurses with the chance to grow, through providing them with a scholarship program. After the program, they are supposed to be of service to the organization for two continuous years. They are expected to have total commitment to the organization during these two years, as the exchange for the scholarship. For me, this is going to be quite easy and even fun. I am determined and totally committed to contributing to this mission by always being ready to dedicate my fulltime service to the underprivileged portions of the population whenever need be.
It is worth noting that the distribution of adequate and quality healthcare services across the various communities in the society is quite skewed. There are certain portions of the society that suffer greatly from lack of even the most basic of healthcare services. This is because of a deficiency in the provision and supply of the required medical personnel to the available healthcare institutions thereabout. It is a reality therefore to note that there are some healthcare institutions that are critically understaffed and hence undermanned to handle the needs of the community around them. They can easily be overrun in case of any serious disease outbreak.
With such issues at hand, I am ready to go out there to such facilities and give my best services with utmost commitment and dedication expected of me. I believe that with the expertise and skills gained during my training in the scholarship program, I will be quite productive and beneficial to the available staff. As a team, we can work through the various challenges that might be there, to ensure the best healthcare outcomes for the patients. Working in such facilities that are suffering from the burden of critical shortage in personnel or resources can be the best way to appreciate the simplest things in the society.
2. What personal experiences have prepared you to work with underserved populations, such as participation in a federal pipeline program, community service, internships, or experience in rural, frontier or tribal populations?
