Many young mothers fail to recognize the benefits of breastfeeding and prefer to choose milk formula to feed their children. It is essential for young mothers to understand the importance of breastfeeding and the mutual benefit it brings to both the mother and the infant. The article should, however, emphasize on approximating the number of women who do not understand breastfeeding. Breast milk contains immunoglobulin, antibodies essential for the child development, lactoferrin and lysozyme which are all crucial towards the growth of the child. It also has other essential vitamins that are also essential. Vegetarian mothers should concentrate on their vitamin intake so that they do not affect the nutrition of the infant. Parents should put into consideration the amount of iron, vitamin D, B12 and DHA that they consume as it is essential for both the mother and the child (Sansone, 2013). The article should, however, provide examples of certain foods that contain the vitamins that it advocates for since as stated the article is for everyone even the illiterate. The article fails to acknowledge the importance of a balanced diet for a young mother and her child. The amounts of vitamins that the mother consumes also reach the child in appropriate proportions significant for the development of the child. During pregnancy, a mother gains excess weight to support her and the child. Physical exercise is essential to ensure that they return to the pre-pregnancy weight. The article should emphasize on the desire to get back to the pre-pregnancy weight and indicate the importance of physical exercise. Physical activity is also essential for the health of the mother, and this directly affects the child in that if the mother is healthy, she provides healthy milk to the child full of vitamins significant for the growth of a child.

Parents should make a choice before birth on the method that will be used in feeding the baby that is between breastfeeding and formula (Sidnell & Greenstreet, 2011). The article suggests that breastfeeding is a preferable form of feeding the child compared to formula. It continues to provide a graph that indicates the rates of breastfeeding in America and Japan. Both the United States and Japanese governments advocate for breastfeeding. However, most families in both nations prefer to supplement their breastfeeding with formulas maybe because of their lifestyles.
