NRS-490-RS Literature Evaluation Table: PICOT Statement (Essay Sample)

Instructions:

My PICOT should be about nursing shortage and what solution they are adopting
Assignment 3 PICOT statement for your capstone project.
Review the Topic Materials and the work completed in NRS-433V to formulate a PICOT statement for your capstone project.
A PICOT starts with a designated patient population in a particular clinical area and identifies clinical problems or issues that arise from clinical care. The intervention should be an independent, specified nursing change intervention. The intervention cannot require a provider prescription. Include a comparison to a patient population not currently receiving the intervention, and specify the timeframe needed to implement the change process.
Formulate a PICOT statement using the PICOT format provided in the assigned readings. The PICOT statement will provide a framework for your capstone project.
In a paper of 500-750 words, clearly identify the clinical problem and how it can result in a positive patient outcome.
Make sure to address the following on the PICOT statement:
1. Evidence-Based Solution
2. Nursing Intervention
3. Patient Care
4. Health Care Agency
5. Nursing Practice

Assignment 4 Literature Evaluation Table
Details:
In nursing practice, accurate identification and application of research is essential to achieving successful outcomes. Being able to articulate the information and successfully summarize relevant peer-reviewed articles in a scholarly fashion helps to support the student's ability and confidence to further develop and synthesize the progressively more complex assignments that constitute the components of the course change proposal capstone project.
For this assignment, the student will provide a synopsis of eight peer-reviewed articles from nursing journals using an evaluation table that determines the level and strength of evidence for each of the eight articles. The articles should be current within the last 5 years and closely relate to the PICOT statement developed earlier in this course. The articles may include quantitative research, descriptive analyses, longitudinal studies, or meta-analysis articles. A systematic review may be used to provide background information for the purpose or problem identified in the proposed capstone project. Use the "Literature Evaluation Table" resource to complete this assignment.---- IF THE PROFESSOR APPROVE ALL THE RESEARCH ARTICLE WE CAN USE HERE, IF NOT WE HAVE TO CHANGE THE ONE THAT SHE DID NOT APPROVE. I will put the order once I have enough instruction from the professor. Thank you.

PICOT Statement
The paper addresses the problem of nursing staff shortage in US healthcare system. The problem has resulted in Long Term Acute Care (LTAC) patients, aged 40 years and above, staying to between 4 weeks and 4 months at health facilities.
Patient/ population problem: Nurse shortage is a major problem in US healthcare system. The real challenge is to ensure that staffing levels are as per policy, legal and management standards in order to maintain quality care to the patients CITATION Fer \l 1033 (Ferrer, et al., 2014). The shortage has been aggravated by rise in service demands, low number of new registered nurses entering practice and retirement of experienced nurses CITATION Cov15 \l 1033 (Coventry, Maslin‐Prothero, & Smith, 2015). Another issue that has led to shortage of nurses is high turnover rate of nurses CITATION Buc15 \l 1033 (Buchan, Duffield, & Jordan, 2015). Research shows that 1 out 3 nurses leave within 2 years of beginning to work in a facility (Blitchok, 2018). In cases of highly stressful chronic disease nursing experiences, 1 out of 5 new nurses leave the profession completely within a year of obtaining practice license (Blitchok, 2018). Researchers forecast that the problem may be worse in future where demand for nurses will exceed supply by far (Carnevale, Smith, & Gulish, 2015). This problem sometimes leads to closure of vital healthcare facilities or reduction in quality and nature of service offered (Kelly, 2014). It also means that there will continue to be low nurse to patient ratios, which ends up lowering quality of health-care provided (Black, 2014). In facilities that handle chronic conditions, the shortage can lead to overworking of available registered nurses and involving licensed practical nurses or even interns CITATION Cho16 \l 1033 (Cho, et al., 2016).
Intervention: Evidence based practice (EBP) approach in case study relying on survey data obtained from a random sample of respondents selected from the population of nurses within the facility will be used to find out approaches to solving the problem. Four selected hospitals within the State will be studied.
Comparison: Patients involved in the study are Long Term Acute Care (LTAC) patients at the facilities. Nurses and hospital managements will also part of participants. Nurses will respond to questions concerning quality of service, their work schedules, workloads, turnover and reasons behind their turnover among ot
