A PICOT starts with a designated patient population in a particular clinical area and identifies clinical problems or issues that arise from clinical care. The intervention should be an independent, specified nursing change intervention. The intervention cannot require a provider prescription. Include a comparison to a patient population not currently receiving the intervention, and specify the timeframe needed to implement the change process.
Formulate a PICOT statement using the PICOT format provided in the assigned readings. The PICOT statement will provide a framework for your capstone project. ( the Pico format is= The PICO (population, intervention, control, and outcomes) format is considered a widely known strategy for framing a “foreground” research question.
In a paper of 500-750 words, clearly identify the clinical problem and how it can result in a positive patient outcome.

Introduction
According to the WHO, one of the most persistent and serious illness that affects a significant percentage of today’s population is diabetes (Castillo, 2012). It is estimated that as of 2012, about 371 million people in the world is diagnosed with diabetes, while the undiagnosed cases reach to about the same number. Although diabetes can both be inherited as well as developed during the course of a person’s life, what is alarming is that diabetes type II (the preventable case) is more widespread, affecting about 90% of the population of the people with diabetes around the whole world. This then puts into question the effectiveness of current assessment methods and educative procedures, which are established in order to prevent the widespread of diabetes in the whole world. Nevertheless, due to the limited time and resources, this article would narrow down its focus towards the effectivity of the assessment methods and educative procedures in decreasing the “non-compliance” of patients, diagnosed with diabetes, with their diabetes medication and other treatments. This, in itself, is a serious matter to be discussed in the field of healthcare, since a study has shown that noncompliance (or non-adherence), in the treatment (especially those who are getting insulin treatment) have a higher morbidity rate than people who comply or even those who don’t start treatments at all (Currie, et al., 2012). This study is done by Currie, et al. (2012), where the researchers utilized the data from general practice records of about 16 thousand patients which are diagnosed with diabetes type II.
