Introduction
School nursing as a specialized practice of certified public health nursing focuses mainly on promoting academic achievement, well-being and protection of students’ health. For this to be achieved there is need for a standardized protocol keenly committed to guiding competency, professionalism and safe practice aimed at building a healthy nation (NASN, 2011). In this paper we are going to talk about standards of professional performance attributed to strengthen school nurses to consistently deliver on their roles and above all improve general health care provision.
Value and strength
Standards of professional performance advances experience of school nurses and equips them with insight and leadership skills which they use to improve the community. For instance, a school nurse is able to incorporate what he or she has learns to promote health and safety of the environment by giving a clear vision that lead health workers to achieving it.
