MN502: Evidence-Based Practice Model (EBP)

Model of Practice XXXXX MN502 Professor Ward May 21, 2018 Evidence-Based Practice Model Rendering the most effective care to ensure better patient outcomes has been the core priorities of numerous medical institution worldwide. Public health challenges such as providing patient care that is accessible, empathetic, suitable, safe, and effective for the management of health problems and promotion of well-being has been hard to achieve, particularly, if professional knowledge base was not effectively implemented into clinical delivery due to irregularities and incompetencies. Thus, this simply emphasized that quality health care services can only be attained if clinical decisions and care coordination were grounded on theory-driven and research-based knowledge (Jylha et al, 2017). This is the reason why evidence-based practice is the model where I would like to build upon my advance practice role. Evidence-based practice model allows me to transform healthcare through continuous learning and essential clinical decision-making and practices anchored on evidence from meaningful and high-quality research. Evidence-based practice model (EBP) is an interdisciplinary approach comprised of three important considerations which include best practice evidence, patient’s values and preferences, and clinical expertise. EBP is relevant to my practice because it encompasses all aspects necessary to cater patient’s safety and care (Salinas, 2017). It helps me as a nurse practitioner to not only deliver care appropriately through the empirical and best standard approach but also to consider resources available at hand. EBP aid too in offering compassionate care by teaching me to respect my patient’s preferences in regards to decision-making, especially that this will involve him and will determine his overall health outcome and health promotion. The table on the next page briefly identifies characteristics that I want to apply to my practice as a nurse practitioner which will allow me to ensure safe/quality patient care. Model Characteristics for the Evidence-Based Practice Model Application of the Evidence-Based Practice Model to my Advanced Practice Role 1 Appraise and utilize concurrent research results as a basis for creating clinical decisions about the care of individual patients. 2 Induce significant contextual knowledge, which comprises available assets and recognizes prospective resource barriers and enablers inside the perspective of care. 3 The vital cornerstone of EBP requires patient partaking and sharing of the information in decision-making. 4 EBP allows nurses to acquire a sense of authority, empowerment, and expansion of skills The quality of care can be determined in the extent of healthcare services to increase the probability of desired health outcomes together with the contemporary professional knowledge (Jylha et al, 2017).
