I have not had any academic problems while I was in college here in USA at UDC, but I experienced a lot of challenges while growing up as a girl in Afghanistan. For instance, I could not attend a school like the boys because of the Sharia Law instituted by the Taliban. After deliberation, my parents decided to leave Afghanistan. We went to Pakistan so that I could finish my studies. Additionally, it was challenging for me to get admission to a high school in Pakistan. Despite the poor economic conditions, my parents remained supportive. They worked hard to ensure that I remained in school. Despite the struggles, I managed to earn a high school diploma in Pakistan. The problem was that I was not allowed to proceed with my education in Pakistan.
