Katherine Kolcaba formulated the theory in the 1990s to place the comfort in the forefront of nursing and other health care services. Katherine Arnold was born on 8th December 1944 in Cleveland, Ohio. She obtained a diploma in nursing from St. Luke Hospital Nursing School in 1965 and graduated in 1987 from the Case Western Reserve University that is the Frances Payne Bolton Nursing School.
