Abstract
Interdisciplinary teams are a collaboration of different disciplines, which is done by establishing alliances and insinuating cooperation among the different medically-related groups. There are various disciplines in every unit that include the whole hierarchy in the medical department. The teams work together to achieve high-quality care for the patients. Thus, reducing the potential errors in the execution of the tasks. Also, every team works in the premise of checks and balances, which prohibit opinionated biases that may hinder the growth of every medical professional (Finkelman & Kenner, 2013).
1. What disciplines were included in the interaction?
This experience enabled me to work with various kinds of disciplines with different philosophies and expertise. This journey allowed me to immerse myself with doctors, pharmacists, therapists, nutritionists, and dieticians.
2. What was good about it?
The creation of this multidisciplinary team allowed the enhancement of knowledge through the discussion of opinions and the medical expertise of each person in the team. Every person in the team was permitted to voice out his or her observations on a patient and opinions on how the patient should be treated or managed. Because of this collaboration, all of us were able to give input on a case, thereby increasing the reliability of the procedure to be done to the patient. This team was also able to reduce the utilization of unnecessary medical services and enhance every member’s flexibility.
