There has been a drastic development in technological advancements in the twentieth century. Almost everything can be executed within a short period due to technology. In the medical field, technological advancements are significant to diagnose and to give the appropriate cure or remedy for a patient. This paper discusses the significance of the technological advancements in the nursing profession and the role of the nurses in its utilization.
Currently, the healthcare facilities and hospitals utilize systems and applications which can make healthcare workers more efficient. Through these applications and systems, the hospital provides a more accurate and precise handling of patients. Easier transactions are provided for every department in the hospital (Wei & Courtney, 2018).
Additionally, the chance of patient misidentification and mislabeling of samples are lessened, which makes turnaround times much efficient. These systems and applications play a significant role to provide the institution with an information system that will help for the betterment of the employee’s job (Wei & Courtney, 2018).
Nurses, together with the physicians, are considered as the primary healthcare providers. As front liners, nurses have a vast experience in handling an enormous number of medical cases. Moreover, they are responsible for monitoring the treatment regimens for the patients. Their responsibilities include the administration and scheduling of the patients’ medications, counterchecking of the labeling of the drugs, and the monitoring of the possible adverse effects to the patients. Having this vital role, nurses should be allowed to have a system that they can rely on while taking care of their patients. A system that makes their job easier and more accurate (Farzandipour, Meidani, Riazi, & Jabali, 2016).
