California Kindergarten entry immunization requirement
Even though, all children are expected to give evidence indicating their immunization and health history. It is necessary to determine whether the children have already been given immunization dosage before enrolment. The kindergarten requirements are considered for children under 4 years and before 6 years to their transition to elementary school. The immunization requirements are stated below (CDPH, 2016).
Diphtheria, Pertussis, and Tetanus, (DPT)- Five (5) doses
Polio- Four (4) doses
Measles, Mumps, and Rubella (MMR)- Two (2) doses
Hepatitis B- Three (3) doses
Varicella (chickenpox)- One (1) dose

In the case of the DPT, the child has already received doses 1 and 2, which are valid and using doses 3 and 4 can then be given (CDPH, 2016). When the child has already received doses before their fourth birthday they can be given 4 doses. This indicates the need to undertake health history to determine that the minimum intervals of the doses have been satisfied (Smmusd.org, 2016).
