Why humans have to eat meat to maintain health
In modern life, being healthy has become the main goal of all human beings. Humans' consciousness of health has increased. In today's society, they not only care about the delicious food but also are concerned about the balance and moderation of diet. To maintain health, our bodies need all kinds of nutrition from multiple foods, like meat, vegetables, and fruits. Nowadays, some people like to eat meat, while others choose a vegetarian diet without any meat. Moreover, the number of people who choose to be vegetarian has been increasing. Do humans have to eat meat to keep healthy? This has become a serious question in the society today. Eating meat is necessary for individuals because there are some nutrients that meat has, like zinc, creatine, and carnosine. While vegetables do not include enough of these nutrients, which humans need every day; meat can provide humans long-lasting energy for a day; meat can also help human to grow their muscle.
To begin with, maybe meat has a lot of fats hence eating too much of may cause heart disease, but meat also includes much nutrition that helps human to keep healthy, while the plant food does not contain or the plant food does not provide enough for humans. Take zinc as an example; zinc is essential for daily diet. And it is necessary for the synthesis of protein and DNA. The lack of zinc might cause the loss of appetite, diarrhea, diminished taste, anemia, skin erosions, and hair loss. The daily requirement of zinc for an adult is about 15mg. Most animals' protein contains about 15mg per 100g, while vegetables and fruits are poor in zinc (Wiseman, 2004). According to the research, there are about 93 percent vegetarians who do not get enough zinc (Sears, n.d.). Another example is Vitamin B12; it is also called cobalamins. It plays a major role in the cells, the brain, and the nervous system. It helps to create the red blood cells, to maintain the nervous system and to protect the brain functioning normally. There is virtually no Vitamin B12 in any plant food. People usually get it from contaminated plants or meat (Wiseman, 2013). The contaminated plant food doesn't sound healthy to those individuals who are trying to keep healthy so that the meat will be the better choice for the individual. Above all, human need all kind of nutrition every day to maintain a healthy body, meat, and vegetable both can provide essential daily nutrition, but for more, human need to eat meat (Wiseman, 2013).
Meat protein provides vital calories for the energy of the body. In most case, people may have inadequate calories due to starvation or fasting or when minimal calories are consumed into the body or when meat is consumed in excess. In such circumstances, meat acts as the source of energy by providing proteins in excess beyond what is required for the tissues and the muscles. The meat through protein reduces hunger and helps in the control of weight. The protein in the body provides 10 to 35 percent of the calories with each gram providing four calories compared to whole grains and vegetables that give small amounts of calories of about 25 per serv...
