It is indeed true that the concept of health has changed over time. In the 19th century, infectious diseases were still widespread due to poor living conditions and poverty. Eating contaminated food, drinking contaminated water, poor disposal of human waste, and poor sanitation are all attributed to poor living conditions. In the 19th century, the concept of health was staying free from illness. However in the 20th century, there has been a significant shift for management of diseases whereby sanitation has become a priority for healthcare practitioners. Vaccination has also been introduced (Yoost, & Crawford, 2015). After the introduction of these strategies, doctors have been able to deal with most of the widespread illnesses in the community. Some of these diseases are rarely contracted today.
