Hormones are ‘body messengers’ that are responsible for relaying chemical impulses that regulate the behavior of an individual. The hormones are secreted from the endocrine signaling system, made up of several glands located in different organs all over the body. Hormones in females are complex and their production levels change with different menstruation cycles with hormones such as estrogen and progesterone mostly influencing this stage of a woman’s reproductive health. Imbalance in these hormones is responsible for disorders such as Polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS) CITATION Gle20 \l 1033 (Gleneagles Hospital, 2020) where immature eggs are contained in crystals of pearl-sized fluid-filled cysts which grow in the ovaries. Women suffering from the disorder mainly have higher amounts of the male hormone androgen.
