Bipolar disorder is a mental illness that associates with suicidal thoughts, suicide attempts as well as death by suicide. The illness may be the deadliest because of the extreme suicide rates among individuals living with it. To prevent these suicides, it is important to understand the challenges of diagnosing it and accepts the day to day struggles of people living with bipolar. Therefore, comprehending the bipolar-suicide like is significant. Thus, the paper will present bipolar disorder, its impact, and treatment.
According to Johnson, Carver & Tharp, (2017), the condition is at least 20 times high in prevalence against the whole population. Also, there exists a 20% lifetime risk of suicide in people with this condition and this risk grows with certain risk factors. The risk factors include predominant depressive polarity, suicide completion, unemployment, the elderly age of over 75 years, younger age of fewer than 35 years, Caucasian, no children, divorced, living alone, and male gender.
