Health Promotion Concepts Student’s Name Institutional Affiliation Health Promotion Concepts Introduction Vaping is not a safer alternative to smoking since it involves inhaling of nicotine and other substances that are potentially harmful to people’s health. Vaping involves the use of electronic cigarettes (e-cigarettes), and it has often been marketed as a safer alternative to conventional cigarettes. However, studies indicate that vaping makes a person to inhale aerosols, which can lead to mouth and throat irritation, coughing, nausea, and other unknown long-term effects. Vaping has increasingly been marketed to young people, and this is a dangerous trend that needs to be controlled (Perikleous et al. 2018). Promoters have claimed that e-cigarette devices have the ability to help smokers to quit smoking. However, little scientific evidence has managed to prove that vaping is effective in enabling people to quit smoking. This essay argues that vaping is not a safe alternative to smoking and proposes an educational health promotion for adolescents. These vapes contain a variety of chemical concentrations, and this implies that it is not possible to accurately determine the effectiveness of these products. Adolescents are at the highest risk of being addicted to vaping since there are issues that yet to be known concerning e-cigarettes. One thing that is clear is that e-cigarettes contain nicotine, and this implies that continued exposure to vaping makes a person to crave a smoke. When this craving is ignored, a person starts to experience withdrawal symptoms. Evidence indicates that the toxic substances included in e-cigarettes are not well known (Zainol et al. 2017). Furthermore, the long term impacts of these chemicals on the physical health of the adolescents have not been established since e-cigarettes were introduced over the last few years. The fact that an individual can purchase cartridges that contain more nicotine, or can increase the voltage of e-cigarettes to attain more exposure implies that vaping can be more dangerous than regular smoking. Educational Health Promotion Vape-free projects can play an instrumental role in educating adolescents on the dangers of vaping. Addressing the harmful effects associated with using e-cigarettes is the only strategy that can be used to educate the youth on ways of ...
