My philosophy of nursing is human-oriented as I believe that patients are first human beings and then ‘numbers’ and ‘medical conditions’. It teaches that a person is a combination of various components like physical, mental, spiritual, social and cultural (McEwen & Wills, 2014). To my understanding, these fundamental elements comprising human beings are essential to learning for nursing to build a caring attribute, which is the root of this discipline. Besides, it also allows the student to understand that a patient body is beyond medical sample for practising the profession.
