The paper discusses about Florence Nightingale, her prominent achievements in the nursing field and the current impacts she made experienced currently in medicine. The documents starts by giving a brief history, where started went to Turkey with a group of 38 British nurses in 1854 (The National Archives, 2014). Due to warfare aspects between Britain and Russia in the same period, health center services and conditions were quite pitiable. Soldiers got severe injuries in the battlefield and most died based on poor nutrition and the available basic medical care services that could barely liberate them from adverse health conditions, injuries and disorders they faced in battles. Despite her death, which was more than a century ago, most of her achievements, impacts and changes still exist in the present-day nursing field. The paper integrates Florence Nightingale impacts that exist currently in field and profession of medicine with the nursing philosophy.
Why I chose the Nursing Philosophy
There primary reason as to why I chose nursing philosophy is that currently, nursing is a field that has changed people lives. There has been subsequent growth in the field since the advent of scientific medicine. Florence Nightingale is a protuberant figure in relation to most revolutions in the nursing branch. Most of her work and achievements have contributed greatly to building up the nursing philosophy and more than a hundred years after her death, people still remember her, allude to her work and celebrate her birth on 12 May, where people commonly know the day as Nurses day.
An Overview of Florence Nightingale’s Impacts on Nursing Today
One of the primary impacts Nightingale made was making nursing a bigger profession than what people perceive it during her times. The government saw nursing a less productive field as it operated on basics and the nursing services often yielded less positive outcomes. In the warzone, many soldiers died due to poor health services available at the time (The National Archives, 2014). Many soldiers died based on the insufficient treatment and trivial medical care before advent of the new medical changes and strategies to make nursing a proficient profession from Florence Nightingale.
Another prominent impact under Florence Nightingale was the factor hygiene in health centers.
