The main objective of the doctor of nursing practice (DNP) is to research new knowledge and ensure that the new experience should be implemented in the health care system. The program is a rigorous way of ensuring that there is a successful implementation of the latest knowledge and technologies in the health sector. To conduct this evaluation, some essentials are used, which include enhancement, culmination, partnerships, implementation, and evaluation. When all the above essentials are put together, they form one unit that leads to an aspect in the nursing field known as evidence-based practice (EBP). The need for EBP is to have nurses make viable judgments on patient care from verifiable evidence (Moran, Burson & Conrad, 2016). This knowledge of judgment comes from research work.
The field of nursing is historically based on theories and has a huge knowledge gap that can only be fulfilled through research into theories within the nursing discipline and other subjects (Younas & Quennell, 2019). Therefore, there is a need for health institutions to support nurses and all those medical practitioners who would like to increase their knowledge in the field of nursing. Theories in the health sector have numerous advantages as they help the researcher to formulate the right question to study and also select a target population based on the selected theories.
To achieve the best health care system in hospitals, nurses use various concepts such as hourly rounding. Hourly rounding is a concept used by nurses that entail checking on a customer between one and two hours (Hutchinson et al., 2017). It is of great importance to acknowledge that the kind of care administered to a patient by a nurse has some realizable benefits to a patient. Patients who are regularly attended to by nurses have recovered quicker than those patients who are no attended to by nurses (Fukuda, Shimizu & Seto, 2015). Therefore, the position of nurses in healthcare is critical in care as they are in the first line of care.
A concept such as PICO is critical in nursing practice. “P” stands for the population that the researcher wants to study, “I” is for the intervention that the researcher wants to administer to the sample under study, “C” stands for the control experiment while “O” is the outcome of the experiment. This is a concept in the field of nursing that provides a mechanism that ensures evidence-based care is delivered to a patient. When there is appropriate deliverance of the right health care, there will be an improved patient outcome and more benefits, especially to the health care organization.
To illustrate the problem of practice at the microsystem, mesosystem, and macrosystem, nurses consider the issue of financing to the hospitals and organizations involved in the health sector (Wilson & Abrahamson, 2018).
