There are many barriers to the Health Information Systems (HIS). First, it is the cost of HIS and EHR systems and Softwares. These include the high upfront capital costs, Maintenance of the EHR systems and the maintenance cost of the new EHR systems(Balgrosky, 2015). EHR requires both the payer and the providers making the EHRS and other HIS implementations expensive undertaking. Besides, the expense of these systems prompts for the investment of precious capital and other resources(Balgrosky, 2015). This is in both the purchase of the HIS products and maintenance of the EHR systems and software.
In solving this, adequate incentive program should be set. These should include financial incentives to some of the capital and some of the ongoing costs associated with acquiring and implementation. Employ appropriate mechanisms to ensure the stability of EHR software to reduce the maintenance costs.
