A video produced by the AFP News Agency shows how mosquitoes developing resistance to pesticides in Burkina Faso, one of the countries in developing African continent, is a challenge in fighting the disease that claims about 50,000 lives annually. Malaria is the leading killer in Burkina Faso with children being the most susceptible population. In Africa, the disease claims the life of one African child every after 30 seconds (AFP News Agency, 2009). The country has no choice than to provide six million mosquito nets to its entire population. The local government is fighting the disease through a research program that seeks to find a solution to mosquitoes that are resistant to insecticides in mosquito nets. The development of resistance to insecticides is a global challenge in the fight against malaria.
