In the endocrinology department, there is a focus on the disorders associated with endocrine glands and hormones. Among the common endocrinology conditions are acromegaly, adrenal insufficiency, Addison's disease, Cushing's syndrome, cystic fibrosis, graves' disease, Hashimoto's disease, osteoporosis, thyroid cancer, and diabetes (National Institutes of Health, 2020).

The main procedures are fine needle aspiration/ biopsy, and advanced molecular testing of thyroid nodules are common procedures. There are other procedures such as androgen deprivation therapy, androgen replacement therapy, antihormone therapy, and androgen suppression that are less common. Thyroid tests help diagnose thyroid diseases with the TSH test used to diagnose hypothyroidism or hyperthyroidism; other tests are the T4 tests and T3 tests (National Institutes of Health 2020). Thyroid scans are carefully used as a radiological diagnostic service for problems with the thyroid gland as the throat is a sensitive area, and ultrasound-guided biopsies, ultrasound imaging, and radioactive iodine uptake tests are useful radiological diagnostic services.
