Diabetes is caused by an imbalance between the demand and the production of insulin used in energy production. There are two types of diabetes, namely Diabetes Mellitus and Diabetes Insipidus. Diabetes Mellitus is characterized by high sugar levels in the blood, high sugar concentration in urine, excessive thirst, and polyphagia, which is as a result of a lack of insulin or hyposecretion of insulin. On the other hand, Diabetes Insipidus is a rare disease, where the body loses too much fluid through urination, resulting in dehydration and other range of illnesses (Brucker & Tekoa, 2015). This paper provides an analysis of the differences and similarities between the two disorders.
There are a number of differences between the two types of diabetes. Diabetes Mellitus is a pancreatic disorder, which results from a deficiency in insulin production and high production of urine rich in glucose.
