These individuals may feel that the older person's finances also belongs to them. So, it becomes important to watch out for the following telltale signs that indicate financial abuse is happening.
First, when the elderly person isn’t aware of their finances. A warning sign occurs when an elderly lose track of their finances. They may not remember any withdrawals or transfers from their accounts. When this happens, the family members should check the elderly's account activity to identify any unauthorized access. Second, family members should beware of any new associates. Older adults are likely to suffer from loneliness. This makes it easier for them to form new connections with others.
