Public versus private based quality initiatives have been a major issue in the US health care sector. Public initiatives are regarded as being able to provide more equitable care to the majority of the citizens in the country. It also ensures that there is evidence-based kind of care, especially when accountability is required at all levels (Murray and Frenk, 2010). When the process of planning and resolution for public initiatives is taken into account, it provides room for systematic review and possible appraisal despite the challenges that are faced.
