Anorexia
Anorexia, also known as Anorexia Nervosa, is an eating disorder that makes victims experience insufficient weight gain. The disease is characterized by weight loss and inability to gain appropriate weight that is in correspondence with an individuals, height, age, which ends up affecting their body image and posture (Gibson 2011). Every people is capable of contracting anorexia irrespective of their race, ethnicities, gender, age and sexual orientation. Notably, the disorder affects the victims as early as teenage. However, both children and adults have been diagnosed with anorexia (Gibson 2011). Therefore, the paper seeks to examine the common symptoms and and treatment available for anorexia.
Symptoms
The early signings of the disorder is sometimes difficult to differentiate from other dieting and normal eating (Grange and Lock 2010). Also, the symptoms can be hidden and confused with other condition or attributed to side effects of prescribed drugs.
1 One of the symptoms include loss of appetite, where the victims choose to miss meals or eat very little amount of food.
2 Also, the victims have the tendency of leaving the table immediately after the meals so that they can vomit.
3 The victims are observed with body size and shape as they are constantly checking their eating habits to acquire their desired body shape and size (Johnson 2014). They do this by constantly weighing themselves as well as examining themselves on the mirror.
4 Also, the patients experience feeling dizzy, frequent hangover dry skin and rapid hair dizzy
5 They also come up with wired eating rituals such as slicing food into small pieces and spitting the meals into small amount.
6 Also, patients with anorexia have a habit of elaborating cooking procedures but and up refusing to eat (Grange and Lock 2010).
7 Adolescent women with anorexia are likely to indulge to alcoholism as a way of getting over the feeling of food inadequacy to boost and control their emotional relief. In particular, young women in college show symptoms frequent alcohol addiction along with anorexia nervosa (Grange and ...
