Nurses have realized the need to diversify their services to the patients by venturing into political activism. In this light, various notable nurses have stood up to address the various challenges that face most nurses, as well as those that face the profession in general. This trend has improved delivery of services by the nurses, as well as improved the communication in health systems through the promotion of positive arenas for such discussions. In this light, the contributions of Lois Capps can be highlighted as a landmark in the medical services circles
Capps serves at the federal level in the congress, where she has offered her services for more than ten years. Capps trained as a nurse, receiving her bachelor’s degree from the Pacific Lutheran University (Capps, & Bordonaro, 2013, p. 12). She was elected to the congress in 1996 and has effectively retained her seat in the subsequent elections.
