What is the value of disease prevention? Provide an example of a disease prevention program (either within the U.S. or international). The value of disease prevention is the savings in health care costs associates with preventive care rather than treating diseases. Disease prevention and control is associated with avoiding diseases or reducing their effects is an aspect of disease prevention. The case for staying healthy is that this improves health outcomes and is less expensive, while this improves the quality of life and productivity (Kongstvedt, 2013). The National Diabetes Prevention Program targeting the Medicaid recipients is one that seeks to reduce the risk of developing diabetes and related complications given that diabetes management is more expensive.
