In an attempt to help a client change his behavior, I applied Cognitive Behavioral therapy. The client had a lot of anxiety and depression due to the family wrangles. When I tried talking to him, he instead focused on issues that happened in the past and accounted for them for the present situation. Certainly, this was not necessary since cognitive Behavioral therapy deals with the current problems and how they have impacted an individual. In addition, the theory focuses on reducing depression without considering the well-being of the client, yet it is equally vital in the recovery of the patient (Widnall, Price, Trompetter & Dunn, 2019). In a bid to recover, the well-being and mindset should change in order to become optimistic. As a result of ignoring the well-being, there was no progress in the outcomes since she never believed in himself.
Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) Approach
ACT adequately works for individuals who are not responsive to traditional behavior therapies since it handles specific disorders at a time.
