Introduction
The study focuses on critical analysis of the research on nutrition management differences among genders with type 2 diabetes. It covers the type 2 diabetes complications, medication and difficulties faced by men and women in nutrition therapy. The study investigates responsibilities as the chief cause of these disparities.
Problem statement
Type 2 diabetes was the clinical problem that steered the research. Type 2 diabetes is a complex condition that carries health hazard of chronic illnesses and death with it. If type 2 diabetes is not well managed, it causes the following complications: glaucoma, cataracts, kidney disease, heart disease, peripheral neuropathies, and stroke (Appavoo, 2014). Well-timed diagnosis, self-management, and treatment are the remedies in this problem. It is one of the ailments in which reformed food diet or nutrition therapies are essential components of medications. Fortuitously the dietary treatment is cheap compared to other medication that requires expensive treatments. However, it was found that behavioral traits of male and female genders affected the medication. Hence, facilitating the research problem that loyalty to nutrition therapy recommendations could vary between men and women suffering type 2 diabetes. Grounded on the fact that gender responsibilities differ from man to woman hence determining the meals to consume. Men tend to take less concern on what the family should eat. It limited them from dietary therapy, hence, hindering their type 2 diabetes treatment.
The treatment of diabetes targets to solve the impact of the disease by ensuring blood glucose levels are as adjacent to normal glucose range. To reach this, the patient needed to implement several self-management traits, including nutrition therapy, medications, and aerobic exercises and monitoring of blood glucose (Appavoo, 2014). Thus, there was a need for research on the difference in practicing dietary therapy between men and women hence a significant reason for research.
Study purpose
The study purpose was to assess partition of domestic labor among spouses, reviewing five hundred and sixty-one patients who attended the type two diabetes teaching focus at the Toronto Western Hospital. The research targeted to evaluate how the division of household jobs and responsibilities impacted the adherence to nutrition medication guidelines. To achieve this, qualitative interviews were conducted among twelve married clients of which six were men and the other six were the ladies. The purpose demonstrates the essence of research clearly. It brings out the research objectives of the differences in gender adherence to dietary therapy recommendation (Wong, 2005). Thus, aims to answer whether there is variance between males and ladies in keeping the nutrition practice. Hence, revealing the research goal which is assessing type 2 diabetes patients’ adherence to dietary instruction.
