Despite the efforts showed by multiple governments worldwide to curb the spread of coronavirus, not many countries have managed to flatten the curve of infection. As such, the rate of infection is likely to keep rising until a vaccine is found to cure the disease. However, before then, individuals should not forget that they should observe the directives from health organizations so that they can protect themselves and their families.
Nations should come up with effective policies to combat coronavirus without pushing their citizens so much. For instance, in Kenya, President Uhuru Kenyatta implemented dusk to dawn lockdown that has made some people suffer in the hands of the police officer (Soi, 2020). Although the president came up with that policy to curb the spread of coronavirus, it does not mean that those who break the rule should be beaten or harassed by cops.
In reality, the coronavirus pandemic has significantly affected how people interact. For example, various measures, such as quarantine and social distancing, restrict individuals from going to public gatherings (Mackintosh, 2020). That is the reason why some people have neglected observing these rules since it is extremely difficult for individuals to stay without interacting with each other physically.
People and place are the two descriptive epidemiology of COVID-19 that will be discussed in this paper. Older adults and those with pre-existing health problems are vulnerable populations when it comes to coronavirus (Merrill, 2021). When it comes to place, the rate of spread is high in numerous countries worldwide, which means that geographical location does not influence the spread of the virus.
The two health and population indicators are morbidity and life expectancy. COVID-19 is spreading at an alarming rate, and it affects people in different demographics. In addition, it reduces the life expectancy of individuals above 60 years since they are vulnerable to the infection.
