The frequency of diabetes and obesity is increasing all over the world raising concerns that the two conditions are related. Many epidemiological studies have been conducted and they support the correlation between the two and cancer as well. Current studies suggest that 1 out of 10 of cancers is directly related to obesity while 3 out of 10 of diabetes is related to overweight. The carcinogenesis mechanisms that are induced by overweight involve insulin resistance, adipokine and angiogenic factor secretions, and inflammation. The available clinical and experimental evidence shows that resistance to insulin plays a vital role in carcinogenesis (Sasai, et al., 2010). From the available evidences, it is clear that there is clear correlation between the two.
