Hayward Unified schools are among the many school districts in the US implementing community programs to promote the general well-being of young people. One of the community programs is the Promise Neighborhood (HPN), a partnership between the residents, the local schools, Government agencies and other non-profit organizations (Hayward Unified School District, 2017).
All these partners work together to offer long-term strategies that would benefit adolescents within the Jackson Triangle. The HPN program offers children and adolescents the opportunity to learn, grow and succeed in career goals. The program offers comprehensive social support that promotes health, safety and economic well-being of the whole neighborhood. Hayward is among the five communities implementing such unique programs (McAfee & Torre, 2015).
Tennyson teen parent programs
Hayward Unified school district Tennyson teen parent programs, also known as the Tennyson infant center is located at Tennyson high school, the programs provide child care programs, personal counseling, career guidance, life skill and teen case management (McAfee & Torre, 2015).
The program has benefited teenage parents giving them the opportunity to learn about parenting, parents of young teenagers also meet to discuss childhood challenges and learn from each other. Parenting and family support is good opportunities to get help when in need. The fatherhood programs offer opportunities for fathers to be involved in their children's lives.
