Our organization is in the process of adopting a Computerized Physician Order Entry (CPOE). The CPOE system enables physicians to have a central database where they store all the patient data. This makes it possible for swift diagnosis as well as the reduction of medical errors since all the medical history of the patient is stored at a central location thus making it easy to retrieve.
The CPOE system has a big effect on the nursing profession. In most nurses, nurses require the history of a patient in order to be able to make a clear diagnosis and the CPOE system makes it possible to attain this objective since all the patient history can be obtained thus making it possible for nurses to make conclusions based on the history.
