Function of a Committee
In relation to the meeting, I attended recently, being a committee member’s is more than just attending meetings. Committee roles vary according to various positions. Traditional committee structure includes the chairperson, treasurer and secretary each having distinctive roles. However, the committee general roles include making a collective decision as a group and holding joint responsibility for decision and actions they take (Bahls, 2014). The committee needs to ensure that all decision are made in the best interest of all members and proper procedures are followed to ensure that they are efficient, transparent and accountable (Bahls, 2014). The committee is also responsible for managing the group on behalf of the members. The committee develops policies and procedures based on member’s recommendations. The committee regularly communicates with members and responds to member’s feedback. The committee is charged with the responsibility of developing and managing external relationships, obtaining resource that they also ensure that the group’s assets are well managed (Bahls, 2014).
The Roles of Those in Attendance
Other group members roles include being active and participating in all meetings. Members need to arrive on time for all meetings and also contribute meaningfully. Member’s role includes asking questions to get clarification on issues affecting them as a group. Members are expected to contribute towards the meeting agenda and undertake assigned tasks as agreed during meetings (Bahls, 2014). Member’s role includes reading and researching distributed information to provide any feedback that can benefit the group.
