In the various fields, especially in the field of nursing, well organized teaching programs are critical because they help to impart some knowledge and skills to the target professionals or people within the field in order to improve the quality of the services provided. A proper identification of the class to teach, the programs to offer, the target audiences, among many other finer details help to make the intended program of teaching a success.
This paper seeks to design such a class, it will stipulate the sponsoring institution, the need for such a class, a description of the class, the learning resources to be used, program outcomes, leaner objectives as well as the domains of learning. The paper will use the reading and analysis of information from other sources criteria.
Length and Sessions
The class will be on importance of work ethics and professionalism in the field of nursing and medicine. Additionally, it will be of length of 4 hours, 4 sessions of 1 hour each.
Sponsoring Institution
The class is sponsored by Shalom Community Hospital. It is a reputable hospitable with an outstanding record in medical services. It is known for its advocacy for the delivery of quality services to the patients and its employees are in record for minimal cases of negligence of duty, unprofessionalism and even unethical behaviors. The philosophy of the hospital is “Treating patients with professionalism, ethics and cordial care in addition to simply giving them prescription, drugs, injections and the normal nursing duties”.
The philosophy will help to spearhead the theme being leant by class, because it helps to translate the mere words into actions, which at the end of the day; will help to ensure that nursing professionals stick to the required code of ethics and professionalism in their work.
Need for Class
The need for the class was motivated by the need to educate the various professionals in the field. Such professionals need to be given education on the need to stick to ethical behavior, such as being kind, courteous, and cordial and being hospitable to patients (Walker, Clendon & Walton, 2015). It is the above which contributes to a quick recovery in addition to the treatment which they offer.
Description of Class, learning resources and program outcome
The class will comprise group of nurses because they directly deal with patients. The sources to be used in the study will be textbooks on nursing, various technicians as well as physicians in the medical field. The sources will outline the various guidelines and ethical discharge of duties as well as those that outline matters to do with professionalism in nursing and the various fields of medicine, such as physicians. After the course, all the taught personnel will be required to pass some organized assessments in written and oral forms before they can be certified as being passed. Additionally, they will be required to exhibit what they have been taught practically to the patients, and this will be assessed from feedbacks from the patients after they have received services.
