Hazardous Chemicals to which Workers Are Exposed
Exposure to chemicals within the workplace is an element that can lead to both the short and long term health effects such as skin disorders and rushes, poisoning, and other disorders such as that of the lung, liver and kidney (Baybutt, 2015). Within our work environment, the employees are primarily exposed to chemicals such as the acetaldehyde and Chlorine Dioxide. It is therefore essential for the workers to ensure their safety which remains a major concern within the organization
Routes by which Workers can Get Exposure to These Chemicals
It is essential to consider the fact that workers may be exposed to these chemicals either through physical contact/exposure or some may be inhaled, swallowed or splashed onto the eyes or the skin and which may result in health side effects that may affect the workers (Baybutt, 2015). This can be done by educating the employees on the dangers of hazardous chemicals by ensuring hazardous communication programs are employed. The labeling of chemicals remains a significant approach that companies can employ in ensuring that the exposure of these chemicals is reduced.
How the Hazards may be Regulated
Hazards can be controlled within the workplace by ensuring that the environments are well ventilated and the employees are adequately trained on how to handle the chemicals. Additionally, it is also essential to consider that the employees wear the right gears such as gloves, googles and respirators in order to avoid physical contacts with the chemicals (Sheoin, 2015). The monitoring...
