In the year 2015-2016 I worked as a volunteer with the RTJ foundation, a non-profit organization whose role is to reach out to families that have endured the pain of losing a family member as a result of violent acts of crime. The deceased are mostly bread winners to their families or individuals that not only the family but the whole community looked up to for inspiration. My passion and determination to assist members of the undeserved communities has enabled me to survive the challenging environment. I have been able to counsel and enroll most of the families to the foundation’s counseling program that helps the individuals to come to terms with their loss. I have also been able to sharpen essential skills such as listening which is integral in the Nurse Corp’s mission and the nursing profession...
